How a Duel Sudoku match works
Both players receive an identical Sudoku grid at the same moment. You fill it in as usual: every row, column and 3×3 box must contain the digits 1 to 9 exactly once.
During the match you can see how far your opponent has got, but not which digits they placed. That makes it a real race: you know when to speed up, but you cannot copy anything.
Duel Sudoku rules
- Identical puzzle. Both players solve the same grid.
- A correct grid wins. The first player to complete a correct solution wins the match.
- Progress is visible, but your opponent’s digits are not.
- Ties return the stakes. If the match ends level, both players get their stake back.
Tips to solve faster
- Scan for singles first. Look for cells where only one digit fits, and for digits that fit in only one cell of a row, column or box.
- Work on the fullest areas. Rows and boxes that are almost complete give quick, safe placements.
- Track candidates. Once the easy placements run out, note the possible digits for the hardest cells to find pairs and hidden singles.
- Do not guess. One wrong digit can force you to unpick half the grid; a correct solve beats a fast but broken one.
- Practice the patterns. Regular play makes techniques like naked pairs automatic.
Is Duel Sudoku luck or skill?
Pure skill: both players get the same puzzle, so the faster and more accurate solver wins. If you solve Sudoku regularly, it is one of the fairest games in the Arena. If you do not, practice mode will show you how long a grid takes you before you play for money.
