How Duel Wordle works
Both players get the same secret word and guess at the same time. After every guess, letters turn green when they are in the right spot and yellow when they are in the word but in the wrong spot, just like in classic Wordle. The player who finds the word with the fewest guesses wins.
If the result is still level, Duel compares green letters first and yellow letters second. That makes every guess count, even when you cannot solve the word.
Duel Wordle rules
- Same word, same time. Neither player gains anything from seeing the other’s guesses.
- Guesses decide the winner. The fewer tries you need to find the word, the better your result.
- Tie-breaks reward progress. Green letters count first, then yellow letters. If everything is equal, the match is a tie.
Tips to win at Wordle 1v1
- Open with a strong starter. Words such as CRANE, SLATE or TRACE test common letters and give you the most information from your first guess.
- Use your second guess to explore. If the first word reveals little, play a second word made of new letters instead of guessing too early.
- Watch out for double letters. Words like LEVEL or SPEED catch out many players.
- Narrow it down when several words fit. A guess that separates the remaining candidates often saves you a try.
- Remember the tie-break. If you are running out of guesses, a word that locks in more green letters can still win the match.
Is Duel Wordle luck or skill?
Mostly skill. A good vocabulary and a disciplined guessing strategy win most matches, but a lucky first guess can still decide a single game. Warm up in the free practice mode and start with small stakes to see how you compare with other players.
