How a Duel Type Racer match works
Both players see the same passage and start typing at the same time. Your progress is tracked as you go, and the first player to complete the passage wins the round.
In the lobby you set the match length: a single race, best of three or best of five. Longer matches reduce the impact of one bad start and favor the more consistent typist.
Duel Type Racer rules
- Same text for both. Every round uses one passage for both players.
- First to finish wins the round. Mistakes cost time, so clean typing usually beats rushed typing.
- Series formats. Matches can be best of 1, 3 or 5 races.
- Ties return the stakes. If a match ends level, both players get their stake back.
Tips to type faster in Duel Type Racer
- Accuracy first. Every correction costs more time than typing a little slower.
- Read ahead. Keep your eyes a word or two in front of what you are typing.
- Use all ten fingers. Touch typing is the biggest long-term speed boost.
- Warm up first. A couple of practice races before a money match help you settle in.
- Choose longer series if you are consistent. Best of five rewards the steadier typist.
Is Duel Type Racer worth it?
If you type fast, Type Racer is one of the clearest skill tests in the Arena, with almost no luck involved. Check your speed in practice mode first, and keep in mind that experienced typists reach very high speeds.
