Who is Ossi Ketola?

Ossi Ketola, better known by his nickname “Monarch”, is a Finnish entrepreneur and high-stakes poker player. He founded CSGOEmpire, one of the best-known Counter-Strike skin betting sites, and in 2025 launched Duel.com, a crypto casino and sportsbook built around the idea of a 0% house edge.

In a little over a decade he went from a teenager running small projects in a Finnish town to the owner of two major gambling brands, a regular in some of the biggest poker games in the world and the driving force behind Duel Arena and Duel’s partnership with Triton Poker.

Early years and first businesses

Ketola was born in 1997 and grew up in Vammala, a small town in western Finland that is now part of Sastamala. According to his own accounts and Finnish media, he started his first business at 14 – a rental service for boats, outdoor games and party equipment.

As a teenager he was also deeply involved in online gaming, and in the Counter-Strike community he became known as “Monarch”. He eventually left school to focus on his projects full time, a decision that set up everything that followed.

CSGOEmpire: the business that made his name

In 2016 Ketola launched CSGOEmpire with a loan of roughly €11,000. The site let players wager Counter-Strike skins – in-game cosmetic items – instead of cash, and it arrived just as skin betting was exploding in popularity.

CSGOEmpire grew into one of the most recognized names in Counter-Strike skin betting. The company is privately held, so its finances have never been published, but its success gave Ketola the experience and capital for his next big move.

Duel.com: a casino built around a 0% house edge

In July 2025 Ketola launched Duel.com, a crypto casino and sportsbook operated by Immortal Snail LLC and licensed in Anjouan. His pitch was simple and bold: give players far better odds than a traditional online casino.

From skins to super high roller poker

Ketola burst onto the high-stakes poker scene in November 2024. At his first Triton Poker series in Monte Carlo he finished second in the €150,000 Super High Roller for $2,970,000, and a few weeks later he reached the final table of the $100,000 Triton Main Event at WSOP Paradise, finishing fifth for $1,172,000.

In 2025 he became famous for heads-up matches played at stakes almost nobody else will touch, including a record-breaking series against Dan Cates at the Onyx Club in Cyprus. High-stakes poker swings both ways, and Ketola has never been afraid to put serious money on the line against the best players in the world.

His biggest moment came at Triton Jeju II in September 2026. Playing under the Duel Heads Up banner, he finished roughly $6 million ahead of Wiktor Malinowski, then on September 11 beat Finnish poker legend Patrik Antonius in a $20 million match – $10 million each – billed as the biggest heads-up match in livestreamed poker history. It ended when Ketola’s K♣J♣ caught a jack against Antonius’s A♦K♦.

Duel Arena and a growing stage

Ketola’s ambitions reach beyond the casino. On August 29, 2026, Duel brought Duel Arena 1 to the Kia Center in Orlando – a fight night with professional MMA, boxing and kickboxing bouts – and Ketola himself stepped into the ring for an entertainment bout. In September 2026 Duel also became an official sponsor of Triton Poker, and the co-branded Duel Heads Up series now puts the brand in front of poker fans around the world.

Why players pay attention to Monarch

Few casino founders are as visible as Ketola. He plays for huge stakes on camera, appears on Duel’s own streams and puts his name directly behind the promise of fairer odds. For players, the practical takeaway is Duel’s math: 0% house edge modes, high rakeback and results you can check yourself.
